2024 Princess Margaret Secondary School Based Scholarships

Please only submit ONE application form.
ELIGIBILITY: Candidates must be in Grade 12 and must complete graduation requirements. Candidates must be intending to continue some form of vocational training or academic studies within one year of winning an award. Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) will be required when collecting any scholarship money.
District Authority Scholarship applicants must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada in order to be eligible for this scholarship.
SELECTION of AWARD WINNERS: PM's Scholarship Committee will determine the award winners by recommendation of the teachers in the appropriate areas. Factors used in selecting winners may include but is not limited to: achievement record and attendance, citizenship, community and school involvement, post-secondary plans, and financial need.
*IMPORTANT*: You will need TWO teacher references. Please approach your teachers well ahead of the deadline and ask if they will be a reference for you. If they agree, they will complete an online confidential reference sheet which has been emailed to them. Be sure to let them know your student number -- they will need it as a part of their reference submission for you. Please DO NOT ask more than two teachers for a reference. These need to be completed TBA.

BC Excellence Scholarship -- is a $5000 scholarship awarded to students recognizing well-rounded graduates demonstrating community service and leadership, both inside and outside of their schools, as well as commitment and aptitude for their chosen career paths. Recipients should exemplify competencies such as communication and digital literacy; critical thinking and problem-solving; collaboration and leadership; personal and social responsibility; global and cultural understanding; and creativity and innovation.
Each public secondary school in BC may nominate one eligible student, who will be decided upon by the school's scholarship committee.

Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship -- is awarded to 20 outstanding high school graduates who have demonstrated a commitment and aptitude for a career path in K-12 teaching. Winners receive a $5000 scholarship voucher to redeem when they are registered and attending an approved K-12 teacher education program at one of BC's nine Faculties of Education.
